Losing My Religion

On Friday night, Daisy had her first brush with religion.  Rabbi Zamek gave Daisy a wonderful baby naming ceremony.  Daisy's middle name is Rachel, after Grandma Beth's mum and her Hebrew name is Devorah after Grandma Jacqui's mum.
Daisy's contribution back to the welcoming congregation was a teary tantrum.  I think that's the end of her synagogue career for now..

Dancing like an angel

Daniel and Nicola share a passion for raving and dance music, so we were delighted to see Daisy has the groove already.

Sunday afternoon nap

Its pretty tiring sitting in all weekend watching the rain and looking after Nicola, so Daniel, Daisy and Wispa decided to grab 40 winks on the sofa.

Saturday lunch then bath

Daniel and Daisy went for Saturday lunch at the Gilmour's. Daniel and Raymond spent most of the afternoon soothing their daughters...finally laying to bed the myth that they are irresponsible party animals, and in fact are both in the running for 'Father of the Year'.

A few post bath photos as well and Daisy had her 'alert' face on.

Poo Explosion

Thankfully there's no photo to accompany this.  Daisy unleashed a torrent of poo at lunch today which resulted in her being bathed in the restaurant toilets.  Being such a bad mum, Nic had forgotten a change of clothes for her (naturally she'd poo'd all over her Ralph Lauren number) and she had to be bundled up in a muslin and taken home for further washing.

A trip to the movies

Daisy took in her first film, 'Fight Club' at the outdoor Moonlight Movies.  She's a big fan of Brad Pitt's work....

Thursday, 14 May 2009

Daisy was extremely well behaved during her lunch date & afternoon spent browsing the shops. Unfortunately dinner time did not go so well. After being showered by gifts from her Aunties Peta, Nadine, Michele & Elli she clearly got overexcited by the explosion of colour and cried for the next few hours....

First trip to Starbucks

Mum & Daisy escaped the drilling from next door by heading to Starbucks.  Minor temper tantrum when mum couldn't figure out how to put Daisy back in the Baby Bjorn but that could have been the introduction of caffeine.

Making friends

What was supposed to be a nice picture of Daisy and her friend Flo ended in a double tantrum

Introducing the bottle

Making it up as we go along (parenting that is), dad gave Daisy her first bottle feed.  This mainly consisted of choking poor Daisy with ice cold milk (didn't know it was supposed to be warm)...  She didn't seem to mind too much though, guzzling it down in 5 seconds flat.

Trip to the doctor..

Like her hypochondriac mum who visits the doctor every 5 seconds, Daisy had her first visit to the doctor today.  Luckily all her 'ailments' were a case of 'new mum panic' and Daisy showed her appreciation to the doctor by poo-ing all over his examination table...
We also discovered that a crying Daisy can be easily lulled to sleep in the back of a taxi, just like her dad.

Burke family outing

Thought we'd go out for Sunday lunch today. All 4 of us. Again, a few lessons learnt.
1) Our road is far too steep for pushchairs. 2)Wispa walks far too slow and DOESN'T fit in any of the compartment of the pushchairs, however hard we tried to shove her in. 3) Daisy just slept the whole way. 4) If you have a cute enough dog, you can persuade any restaurant to start allowing dogs to dine. 5) What a  complete mission taking a baby and dog out, and thats for a 2 hours down the road.

I helpfully didn't take any photos, but here's a couple from yesterday.

Pool Time

It's a tough life spending the day by the pool....

Making friends

Daisy had another lunch date today.  Unfortunately mum totally underestimated the difficulty at getting out the door with a newborn.  Arriving an hour late, Daisy hung out with new friends Ethan & Flo and 4 future, still cooking, playmates. Like a show pony, Daisy was impeccably behaved until screaming her lungs off all the way home in the taxi.
